I first heard about NovaaLab when I tried their Light Pad. To be honest, it was worth the price, and I could see why it’s their best-seller.

But toward the last quarter of 2024, I started noticing a lot of noise around their Novoral Care Pro. Reviews were popping up everywhere, with people claiming it helped with gum inflammation, receding gums, and even sensitivitySince I already had a good experience with their Light Pad, I figured it was worth testing out.

A red and blue light therapy device for oral care? It sounded promising, but I wanted to see if it actually worked.

After using it for over a month, here’s everything you need to know.

Novoral Care Pro Test

How I Tested the Novoral Care Pro

My Routine

Week 1: Started slow—one minute, three times a day.

Week 2: Increased to 5 minutes per session once a day.

Week 3 & 4: Used it twice a day for 5 minutes per session.

What I Paid Attention To

  • Gum inflammation: Checked for changes in redness and swelling.
  • Gum sensitivity: Tested reactions to cold and hot foods.
  • Breath freshness: Noted any improvements throughout the day.
  • Overall gum health: Checked for firmness and stability.

Dentist Feedback

During a routine checkup, my periodontist noticed an improvement in my gum health. Less inflammation, better gum color, and healthier tissue overall.

Key Takeaways: Novoral Care Pro

It works—but only if you use it consistently. I saw real improvements in gum health, inflammation, and sensitivity after about a month.

Uses red (660nm) and blue (450nm) light therapy. Red light reduces inflammation and promotes healing, while blue light kills bacteria and helps with bad breath.

Takes 10 minutes per day. Simple to use, but you need to stay consistent to see lasting results.

Good for gum inflammation, receding gums, and sensitivity. If you’re struggling with these issues, it might be a good at-home solution.

Not perfect. The mouthpiece might feel big for smaller mouths, and it doesn’t fully reach the back molars.

Worth it if you want an at-home alternative to expensive dental treatments. If you’re willing to be patient, it’s a solid investment.

The Novoral Care Pro is an at-home red and blue light therapy device designed to improve gum health, reduce inflammation, and fight bacteria. It uses 8 red (660nm) LEDs to help with tissue repair and 8 blue (450nm) LEDs to kill harmful bacteria.

NovaaLab claims that this device can help with:

  1. Gum inflammation and bleeding
  2. Receding gums
  3. Tooth sensitivity
  4. Bad breath
  5. Recovery after dental procedures

You just need to wear it for 10 minutes a day. The light wavelengths are meant to reach deep into the gum tissue, helping it heal while also keeping bacteria under control.

It’s a non-invasive alternative to expensive dental treatments, which is what made me curious enough to try it.

My first impressions of its looks and build

It looked simple and lightweight. It comes with a mouth tray, a control unit, and a USB charging cable. The mouthpiece itself feels soft but firm enough to hold in place while using it.

One thing I noticed right away is that it’s not bulky at all. It weighs only 0.3 lbs, which makes it comfortable to wear. I didn’t feel like I was forcing anything into my mouth, and it stayed in place without much effort.

Charging is easy too. It uses a USB cable, so I could charge it like any other small electronic device. The company says the LEDs last over 50,000 hours, which basically means it should last for years.

The build quality feels decent, but I did wonder how well it would hold up with daily use.

I’ve had other at-home therapy devices that looked great at first but didn’t last long, so that was something I kept in mind as I started testing it.

I underwent a month of testing

I started using the Novoral Care Pro with an open mind, but I wasn’t expecting major results right away. The instructions recommend 10 minutes per day, but I started slow—one minute, three times a day, just to see how my gums would react.

At first, I noticed a slight warming sensation, which wasn’t uncomfortable but definitely noticeable. After a few sessions, I also felt a minor tingling effect. Nothing painful, but it was clear that something was happening.

After 3 Days

This is where things got interesting. The redness in my gums started to fade, and they looked less irritated. I wasn’t expecting results this fast, so I kept going.

After 2 Weeks

By this point, my gum soreness had reduced a lot, and my gums felt firmer when I pressed on them. Another thing I noticed? My breath felt fresher, which I didn’t expect from a light therapy device.

After 1 Month

This was when I felt the biggest change. My gums felt healthier overall, and even my periodontist noticed an improvement.

I had been dealing with receding gums for a while, and while they didn’t magically grow back, they looked less inflamed and more stable. Sensitivity also decreased, making it easier to eat certain foods that used to bother me.

At this point, I cut back to twice a day instead of three times, just to maintain the results.

What are the downsides?

As much as I liked the Novoral Care Pro, there were a few things that stood out.

1. It doesn’t fully reach the back molars

If you have gum issues toward the back of your mouth, this might not be the best fit. The mouthpiece mostly covers the front and sides, but reaching the very back teeth is tricky. I had to adjust it a bit to make sure the light covered more areas.

2. It takes patience

This isn’t an instant fix. Even though I saw results in a few days, it took about a month to notice real improvements. You have to stay consistent and use it daily to get the full benefits. If you’re looking for a quick cure, this isn’t it.

3. Slight warming sensation

While it wasn’t uncomfortable, I did feel a mild warmth in my mouth after each session. It wasn’t painful, but if you’re sensitive to temperature changes, it’s something to keep in mind.

4. It could feel big for smaller mouths

Not that I have a standard for mouth sizes, but I can see how some people might find the mouthpiece a bit large. If your jaw gets sore easily, it could feel uncomfortable to hold in place for the full 10 minutes. I didn’t struggle with this, but for someone with a smaller mouth, it might be an issue.

Other than that, I didn’t have any major complaints. It worked well for me, but I can see how some people might find it inconvenient if they don’t like daily treatments.

What about their customer service?

I have to say, I liked how responsive they were when I had questions. They even sent me a cheat sheet on how to use the Novoral Care Pro, which was a nice touch. Shoutout to Anna for the quick response times—she got back to me faster than I expected.

However, not everyone has had the same experience. Some users have reported that getting in touch about returns and refunds is a different story. There are mentions of delayed responses when dealing with return shipments and similar issues, so that’s something to keep in mind if you’re worried about their 60-day money-back guarantee.

For general inquiries, though, they seemed pretty solid in my experience.

Is Novaalab's Novoral Care Pro Worth It?

I can confidently say it works—but only if you’re consistent. I didn’t expect much at first, but the difference in my gum health, inflammation, and overall oral hygiene was hard to ignore.

Would I recommend it? If you have gum issues like inflammation, sensitivity, or receding gums, yes. It’s a non-invasive, at-home treatment that made a noticeable improvement for me. Plus, it’s easy to use, and I liked that I could do it at home instead of relying on expensive dental treatments.

Would I buy it again? Yes. In fact, I actually got a second one as a backup—just in case the company ever stops making them. That’s how much I liked it.

Of course, it’s not perfect. The mouthpiece might feel big for some, and it doesn’t fully reach the back molars. You also have to be patient and use it daily for a few weeks before seeing results. But if you’re willing to stick with it, I think it’s worth the investment.
