Coldture Review (2025): Are Their Cold Plunge Tubs Worth It?

I wasn’t really actively searching for Coldture. I actually found them by accident when Edge Theory Labs announced they were shutting down. If you’ve been into cold plunging for a while, you probably know that Edge Theory made one of the more well-known ice baths out there. When I saw their closing message on their site, they recommended Coldture as an alternative. That immediately got my attention.

So, I went down the rabbit hole. I checked out Coldture’s lineup, read up on their technology, and compared them to other brands I’d already considered. What stood out right away was their focus on design, filtration, and precise temperature control—three things that make or break a cold plunge experience.

I also like how they named their brand, though. A culture for cold plunge enthusiasts, Coldture.

What Makes Coldture Different?

coldture cold plunge tubs review

A lot of companies make cold plunges, but here’s what stood out to me about Coldture:

✔️ They have a built-in filtration system – This means you don’t have to constantly change the water like in other tubs. The chiller filters out debris, keeping the water clean.

✔️ Precise temperature control – Unlike DIY setups where temperature is hit-or-miss, Coldture’s chillers go as low as 37°F (3°C) and up to 105°F (40°C). That’s better than a basic ice bath.

✔️ They actually look good – Some cold plunges feel like you just dragged a livestock trough into your backyard. Coldture’s designs are sleek and modern, which makes them easier to fit into a home, gym, or spa setup.

✔️ They offer both high-end and budget-friendly models – Whether you’re looking for a premium, built-in system or a simple, portable tub, they’ve got options.

Since Edge Theory Labs pointed me in this direction, I wanted to really see if Coldture is worth it

In this review, I’ll go through each product, from their high-end Pro Cold Plunge to their budget-friendly Ultra Barrel Light, and also talk about their Water Chiller Pro that works with any tub.

How I Rated Coldture’s Cold Plunge Tubs

I checked how well Coldture’s chillers maintained the set temperature over time. I also measured the difference between the displayed and actual water temperature using an external thermometer. The goal was to see if the chillers could hold steady temperatures, even with back-to-back plunges.

Water quality matters, so I tested Coldture’s built-in filtration system. I looked at how well it kept water clean over several weeks, how often the filters needed to be changed, and whether the tub required frequent draining.

I examined the materials and durability of each model, testing how well they held up over repeated use. I also looked at insulation and how effectively the tub retained cold temperatures.

Some cold plunges are complicated to set up, so I rated Coldture’s models based on how quickly I could get them up and running. For portable models, I also considered how easy they were to move and store.

I compared Coldture’s pricing to other cold plunge brands to see if the features and performance justified the cost. I also factored in long-term costs, like filter replacements and maintenance.

Coldture's Cold Plunge Tubs Review

Once I started digging into Coldture’s lineup, I realized they offer a solid mix of high-end and budget-friendly cold plunges. Unlike some brands that just sell a single model, Coldture has different options depending on your budget, space, and how serious you are about cold therapy.

Here’s a detailed breakdown of each tub and what makes them unique.

Coldture Pro Cold Plunge (Best High-End Cold Plunge)

Name: Coldture Pro Cold Plunge
Brand: Coldture
Description: A high-end cold plunge with a built-in chiller and filtration system. No ice needed, and WiFi control makes temp adjustments easy.
Price: 11,799 CAD
Currency: CAD
Availability: InStock
Colors: Available in white and black

This is the best Coldture model, period. But it also comes with the highest price tag. If you’re looking for something that’s fully built-in, requires zero setup, and actually looks premium, this is it.

If you prefer not having its chiller, buy the Pro Plunge tub for 999 CAD.

My Experience

I tried the Coldture Pro at a friend’s home gym, and the first thing I noticed was how quiet the chiller was. Most external chillers sound like an old AC unit struggling to survive, but this one? It barely made a noise. I also liked how the water stayed consistently cold—no weird temperature spikes like I’ve experienced with cheaper chillers.

What I Liked

No external chiller clutter—it’s built into the tub.
Water stays clean for weeks thanks to filtration.
Super quiet operation—huge plus.
Looks sleek and high-end.

What Annoyed Me

Expensive, even compared to other premium models.

Coldture Classic Cold Plunge Tub Bundle (Best for Home Use)

This is the one I ended up getting for myself. It’s a big step down in price, but it still comes with a powerful chiller. The only real difference? The tub is made of drop-stitch PVC instead of a rigid design.

My Experience

Setting it up was pretty easy. The tub itself feels sturdy, and once it’s filled, it holds its shape well. I also love that I don’t have to constantly change the water. I’ve gone three weeks without draining it, and the filtration system keeps it looking clear.

My only real issue? The tub insulation isn’t great. It still gets ice cold, but the water warms up faster in direct sunlight compared to the Pro model. If you’re using this outdoors, get the insulated lid. Trust me.

What I Liked

Much cheaper than the Pro model but still has the same chiller.
Filtration system keeps water clean for weeks.
Lightweight and portable—I moved it twice already.

What Annoyed Me

Insulation isn’t great—needs a lid for outdoor use.
Drop-stitch PVC isn’t as premium as a solid tub, but that’s expected.

Coldture Barrel Cold Plunge Tub Bundle (Best Space-Saving Option)

Description: A space-saving cold plunge with a vertical barrel design. Features a built-in filtration system and precise temperature control for easy daily use.
Price: 4,499 CAD
Currency: CAD
Availability: InStock
Colors: Black only

I got to test this one at a wellness center, and I actually liked it more than I expected. The barrel design makes it super compact, so it’s great if you don’t have much space. You can buy the barrel without the chiller for only 999 CAD.

My Experience

First off, I love how small this thing is compared to other plunges. But the trade-off? You’re forced into a more upright position. If you like fully stretching out while plunging, this might not be for you.

The chiller works just as well as the Classic model, but because the barrel has a smaller surface area, the water actually stayed colder longer. That was a nice surprise.

What I Liked

Super compact—great for small spaces.
Same powerful chiller as the larger models.
Stays colder longer than the Classic.

What Annoyed Me

Can’t fully stretch out—feels more restrictive.
Not ideal for taller people.

This is Coldture’s budget model, and honestly, it’s pretty solid for the price. It’s light, easy to move, and still gets ice cold. You can buy the tub in a separate purchase for only 499 CAD.

My Experience

I tried this one for a weekend, and it works well for quick plunges. But I’ll be real—it feels more like a fancy inflatable than a long-term solution. The chiller is great, but the tub itself isn’t as sturdy as the Classic or Barrel models.

What I Liked

Cheapest way to get a real cold plunge setup.
Super lightweight and easy to move.
Filtration system keeps water clean.

What Annoyed Me

Feels less durable than the pricier models.
Not ideal for heavy daily use.

Now I can see why Coldture is Edge Theory Lab’s third-party service center.

I was already using a DIY cold plunge before getting my Coldture tub, so I know how important a good chiller is. If you already have a tub and just need a powerful chiller, this is one of the best on the market.

My Experience

This thing gets water COLD fast. I used it on a cheap stock tank, and within a couple of hours, the water was at 37°F (3°C). The built-in filtration is a huge win, too—it keeps the water cleaner for longer, which means less maintenance.

If you’re building your own cold plunge setup, this is worth every penny.

What Makes Coldture Stand Out?

coldture water filtration and temp control Ice Baths, Reviews

After testing multiple cold plunges, I can say that Coldture has some key advantages that make them worth considering over other brands. But are they perfect? No. No brand is.

Here’s a real breakdown of what Coldture does well—and where they could improve.

Water Filtration is a Game-Changer

This is by far the best thing about Coldture. If you’ve ever used a cheap cold plunge (or even a stock tank setup), you know how fast the water gets gross.

Before switching to a tub with filtration, I had to change the water every few days because it would start smelling weird, turning cloudy, or collecting debris. And trust me, draining and refilling a cold plunge that holds 70+ gallons of water is a pain.

With Coldture, I’ve gone three to four weeks without changing the water, and it still looks clean. Their filtration system runs continuously, cycling out impurities and bacteria.

Why It’s a Big Deal:

  • Saves water—no need to refill constantly.
  • Less maintenance—huge if you’re using it daily.
  • No weird smells or cloudy water.

One Issue? The filter needs to be replaced regularly (which is expected), but I think they should’ve included extra filters instead of making them an add-on.

Precise Temperature Control (No More Guessing)

A lot of DIY cold plunge setups rely on manual cooling—which usually means dumping bags of ice or using cheap chillers that can’t hold a steady temperature. The biggest problem? What the thermometer says isn’t always what the water actually feels like.

Before switching to Coldture’s Water Chiller Pro, I was using a stock tank setup with a cheaper chiller. It claimed to hit 39°F (4°C), but when I checked with my own thermometer, the actual water temp was closer to 42°F (6.5°C)—a 3-degree difference.

I tested Coldture’s Water Chiller Pro on the same tub, and the difference was immediate:

  • Chiller Display Reading: 39°F (4°C)
  • My Thermometer Reading: 39.2°F (4.1°C)

That’s a difference of less than 0.2°F—which is way more accurate than my previous setup. And it got down to that temp in under 3 hours, which is faster than some high-end chillers that take 5-6 hours to get below 40°F.

Coldture vs. Plunge: Which One is Better?

Plunge is one of our community’s favorite cold plunge tub brands. We’ve already reviewed their products, especially their All-In Plunge Tub and Freeze to Death Tub, and there’s no doubt they make high-quality, professional-grade ice baths

But how do they compare to Coldture? If you’re trying to decide between the two, here’s what you need to know.

Temperature Control

  • Plunge: Cools down to 39°F (3.9°C)—which is cold enough for most people.
  • Coldture: Cools down to 37°F (2.8°C) and heats up to 105°F (40.6°C), so you get both cold plunging and hot soaking in one system.

Coldture wins if you want hot and cold therapy in one tub. But if you just need a solid cold plunge, Plunge still holds up well.

Filtration System

  • Plunge: Uses a 5-micron filtration system, ozone sanitation, and UV light to keep water fresh.
  • Coldture: Has a continuous filtration system that runs more frequently, helping maintain cleaner water over time.

Both have great filtration, but Coldture’s system cycles water more often, meaning you don’t have to clean it as much.

Design and Build Quality

  • Plunge: Acrylic tub with a clean, modern design—it looks premium and feels solid.
  • Coldture: Uses drop-stitch PVC for some models (like the Classic and Barrel), while the Pro model has a rigid build.

If you want a rock-solid, one-piece tub, Plunge wins. But Coldture’s Pro model is just as premium, and their portable options make setup easier.

Portability

  • Plunge: Heavy and not easy to move once it’s set up.
  • Coldture: Some models, like the Ultra Barrel Light, are lightweight and easy to relocate.

Coldture is the better choice if you need something portable.

Price Comparison

  • Plunge starts at $2,490 USD for their entry-level model (the Air model).
  • Coldture’s Ultra Barrel Light Bundle starts at $3,999 CAD, making it a slightly more affordable option. Plus, you’re getting the Water Chiller Pro with this price.

Coldture is the better deal for budget-conscious buyers, but Plunge has a more rigid, all-in-one design.

Which One Should You Get?

Go with Coldture if you want:

  • Hot & cold therapy in the same tub.
  • A portable option that’s easier to set up.
  • A lower price for similar performance.

Go with Plunge if you want:

  • A solid, one-piece acrylic design.
  • UV and ozone filtration for water sanitation.
  • A cold plunge-only system without heating options.

Both brands are great choices, but it all comes down to what you need.

Final Verdict: Are Coldture Cold Plunge Tubs Worth It?

Coldture is a great choice if you want a low-maintenance cold plunge with precise temperature control. The filtration system keeps water clean for weeks, so you don’t have to drain and refill it all the time. Their chillers cool down to 37°F (2.8°C) and heat up to 105°F (40.6°C), making them a good option for both cold plunges and hot soaks. If you need something portable and easy to set up, Coldture has models that are lighter than most solid tubs.

However, it’s not perfect. Some models could use better insulation, and you have to buy the insulated lid separately. If you prefer a solid, acrylic tub or cedar wood, other brands like Plunge or Odin might be a better fit. Also, while Coldture is cheaper than some premium brands, it’s still a big investment.

If you want a reliable cold plunge that’s easy to maintain and doesn’t require ice, Coldture is worth it. But if you’re on a tight budget or want a solid, one-piece tub, you might want to look at other options
